AGE-SPECIFIC OPPORTUNITIES:

Children’s & Youth Ministry

Each Sunday morning, children and teens get to participate in their own classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every age group gets to participate and learn. Each of the class teachers is carefully screened and thoroughly trained in age-specific instruction.
  • Kids’ Prayer: Twice monthly, our children are brought together to learn about the purpose of prayer and various methods to communicate with God – our Creator!

Life can get complicated once you cross that nebulous threshold into adulthood. There are complicated decisions, bigger stakes, serious relationships, and numerous choices. The Hyphen group of First Church provides a welcoming atmosphere for college and early-career aged young people.

Singles’ Group (High School Graduates and Beyond)

First Church recognizes the unique challenges single adults face in a culture that no longer values committed relationships. However, we also are cognizant of the countless opportunities available to those who are single and encourage singles to embrace their potential in God and whatever purpose He’s designed for our lives. We are whole in Him!

Prime Timers (Married Couples up to Age 50)

Even though marriage is one of the most important institutions, it is the one which is under the most attack — internally and externally. First Church gives married couples the opportunity to come together for fellowship and wise teaching, ranging on topics from money management, getting ready for kids, shepherding children, and maintaining a spiritually and emotionally strong marriage.

Silver Eagles (Age 50 and Above)

Once you get past fifty, the fun has just begun! Whether retired, just plain tired, or active as ever, the Silver Eagles of First Church enjoy refreshment, ministry, and times of valuable interaction. Our Silver Eagles are older believers and godly mentors for younger believers as they grow in Christ.

GENERAL INTEREST OPPORTUNITIES:

Divorce Care

For those who have been through or currently are going through the divorce process, we understand that this can be a challenging time for everyone involved…financially, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. You are not alone; we are here for you and offer a 13-week seminar for both parents and children striving to survive this life-altering process.

Ladies’ Ministry

First Church Ladies’ Ministry gives the women in our church family special times of interaction. Our Ladies’ Group provide times of Bible study, prayer, and sweet fellowship. The group provides a refreshing discipleship opportunity for ladies of the community.

Life Group
Often, small groups of people are better able to interact and learn about a topic than larger groups are. For that reason, First Church has small Bible studies held in member homes. The size of the group is anywhere from six to twelve. During an evening designated by your group, you can meet with a Life Group.

Men’s Ministry

The Men’s Group of First Church serves to connect, encourage, and develop men of all ages, encouraging accountability, for accountability among men is an act of integrity. First Church men meet together throughout the year for prayer breakfasts, campouts, and fishing trips, keeping in touch with one another regularly by email or phone.

Rock Support Group

First Church welcomes with open arms families with special-needs children and hosts a bimonthly meeting for our Sunday School teachers and the community’s parents of special-need children to come together and feel the support of the church body, learn about new teaching methods, glean from others’ experiences, and more! Rock Support was established and is led by a First Church parent of a special-needs child who also holds certifications in special education.

Spanish Ministry

Since the turn of the 21st century, the Hispanic population in Texas has grown by 10.9 percent, and First Church is passionate about sharing the gospel in every language we possibly can. Services in Spanish are conducted at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of each month. In addition, our adult Sunday School curriculum includes a class for Spanish speakers. ¡Gloria a Dios!
